i plan to get this treatment. is the results permanent ? i have hyper pigmentation from acne scarring. i am fare skin tone and have red hyper pigmentation acne scars.

Hyperpigmentation refers to an excess of the brown pigment melanin in the skin. Excess redness from previous acne is a normal part of the healing process and it will eventually go away on its own, whereas hyperpigmentation may or may not improve on its own. Lasers and IPL devices can improve redness and hyperpigmentation, but you can get the improvement without the risks of laser resurfacing. Laser resurfacing is an option that can improve certain skin conditions, but it will certainly increase the redness of your skin for at least a few weeks, and usually several months; it is never used as the primary treatment option when excess redness is the only concern. IPL treatments are non-invasive and cause far less trauma to the skin than laser resurfacing, and they can help to reduce the red marks significantly. I would recommend that you get a second (or third) opinion before you decide on which treatment to pursue, and make sure that you get information on the risks vs. benefits of each procedure.

If you mean the redness then it should only last a couple hours to one day and you may feel windburnt and this is totally normal. But if you mean the results you need to get multiple sessions of microdermabrasion to see results.
