Choosing a Peel:
Glycolic: stimulates collagen growth more effectively than any of the other peels. It’s small molecule allows it to slip beneath the epidermis to reach the collagen fibers below and results in 15%-25% thickening over 12 weeks. Glycolic acid generally causes little or no visible peeling.
Lactic: works on the surface of the skin to treat tone, texture, and pigmentation. The Lactic acid molecule works to pull moisture into the cells, and exfoliate surface cells which helps to perfect the skin’s surface and restore the skin’s natural glow.
Glycolac: With a combination of Glycolic (25%) with Lactic (35%), it provides hydration and tone improvements of the Lactic, with the increased collagen stimulation of the glycolic. It is generally well tolerated because the lactic and glycolic work on different levels

A chemical peel is just what it sounds like, they take a chemical (typically golcolic acid I believe) put it on your skin causing a minor burn and then it peels off revealing fresh younger looking skin. However, if you’ve been on ANY acne meds you need to be careful, some of them have wait periods after stopping use before you can do something like this (for example, if you were on accutane you need to wait a minimum of 6 months after your LAST dose) if you don’t wait long enough you have have serious scarring occur. As to where to get them you have options, there are home versions, usually not very good, for safety reasons they simply don’t have enough of the acids to do very much, good for a little pick me up but not for serious scar removal. Some spas or medi-spas will have them but they can get a little pricey but they are typically stronger and will do more good. The best place is usually a dermatologist, but you could pay upwards of 0 per treatment (and you’d probably need more than one). Also, except for the home versions, these have ‘down time’ i.e. you look like a sunburned monster from hell, then peel horrifically, usually it can take 1-2 weeks before you look normal again and they can be bit painful.

what about stretch marks?
@sunchip39 no you need latex gloves.
can you use this on your hands
Downie was one of the best years ago, sadly this is no longer true. Downie will try to stretch out simple treatments, and sell over the counter washes she hawks opposed to writing a prescription for what is needed. She buys watered down peels, charges the price of quality peel, all so you will have to keep coming back. She will biopsy eczema as if looking for skin cancer- leaving marks in your face, then wants to chemically peel marks. Never go there if you care about your skin!!
I always wanted to do it…and I will this winter!!
this is starting to scare me, man!
wow i only had one treatment and didnt really see any results. just a few pimples after 3 days.
client is highly annoying, but the PA is professional and very informative..
You stated that you were a PA. By that did you mean, Physician’s Assistant?
@rgvgirly06 Erica was using Arbonne products prior to “moving up in the world.” Arbonne is an organic product that might smell nice, but it is not medical grade or exfoliating enough to make a difference. Erica had dull and very sundamaged skin. Nowadays she is glowing and much more even in color. Thanks for your post- Kati Midgley, PA-C
what treatment were you on before you did this????
Erica is very pretty!! She reminds me of Holly Marie Combs. [The woman who plays 'Piper' on Charmed.]
good job.
Very impressive. Thanks for making this.
